The other week whilst filming we created a delicious keto and Primal friendly jam made from chia seeds (a very underrated seed indeed), frozen berries, organic honey and bee propolis extract.  

Since then, it's become an increasingly popular recipe amongst the team at Primal Living. In fact, Sian (the brains of our Primal research), whipped up a jar for her children's 'thank you teacher' end of term present.

Healthy Chia Jam Recipe

Our healthy chia jam recipe is a perfect way to make the switch from your regular sugary jam recipe. It's also a great way to incorporate more berries and chia seeds into your diet - both of which are packed with vitamins, fiber, minerals and antioxidants. Plus, it's free from refined sugar! 

Not only will you love this recipe, but your whole family will too (and teachers apparently). If I'm honest, it's probably one of my most loved recipes thanks to the much-loved compliments it receives. It's true that many people don't expect much from the recipe itself, but thanks to the chia seeds, a dash of organic honey and a few drops of our Bee Propolis, it really does taste like jam.

You can make this healthy chia jam recipe within 10 minutes and keep fresh for up to a week. It really isn't a hassle and in fact, the kids will love making this as they watch the chia seeds turn into a gloopy jam consistency. I would recommend using frozen berries for this recipe. Not only will the recipe keep for longer, but it'll save you a few pennies too. 

How To Serve Chia Jam

This jam is served best with yoghurt or on top of our Nut N' Clusters Granola. You could also try adding it to our Acai Chia Parfait breakfast recipe. Mmm, mmm. Either way, it tastes delicious and makes for a great Primal and keto alternative!

Healthy Keto Chia Seed Recipe

Recipe yields 1 small jar

Cooking time: 5-10 minutes


- 2 tbsp chia seeds

- 2 cups frozen fruit of choice (berries are best) 

- 1-2 tbsp raw organic honey/agave nectar

- 3-6 drops of our Bee Propolis Extract (for extra sweetness)


- Pop your frozen fruit in a saucepan and heat on medium heat.

- Once the frozen fruit begins to soften, add the chia seeds, honey, bee propolis and stir.

- Keep stirring until a jam consistency starts to form. 

- Once you have a jam consistency, remove from the heat and pour the jam mixture into a small jar. Leave to cool and then pop in the fridge to keep fresh.
