These chocolate yoghurt Easter eggs are a great healthy treat for the kids (and the big kids, too) this Easter. Nowadays, the words chocolate and healthy are rarely seen in the same sentence together. If they are, it’s often thanks to very clever labelling that claims ‘reduced sugar’ or ‘fat free’ is redeemed as ‘healthy’ when in fact, it’s anything but healthy.

In the run up to Easter you may find yourself getting a little tired of all the rich chocolate. Either that, or you’re sick of your crazy kids jumping around the house after the sugar spike hits them. Instead, why not give them an Easter treat that’s not only 10x healthier and Primal friendly, but also full of health benefits too.

I’ve used one of my favourite baking ingredients in this recipe, raw cacao powder. There’s many reasons why it’s such a great alternative to chocolate when it comes to healthy baking, here’s just a few…

  • 40x more antioxidants than blueberries
  • Packed with magnesium with helps promote a healthy heart and brain
  • It’s the highest source of Iron from a plant based food
  • Contains more calcium than milk
  • Can be great for improving mood (I mean, it is chocolate after all).

This recipe couldn’t be any easier if it tried. All you need are 3 ingredients and two silicone Easter egg moulds (like these). Give yourself 5 minutes to mix the ingredients together in a bowl, an hour to freeze your chocolate yoghurt Easter eggs and with that, you have yourself a perfectly healthy chocolate treat.

Because of their high protein content (from the yoghurt), these would also make for a great post workout treat. Or in fact, if you want to increase the protein value then simply replace the cacao powder with a scoop of your favourite chocolate protein powder.

These chocolate yoghurt Easter eggs are delicious, creamy, the right amount of chocolatey, are low carb, free from refined sugar and can be made dairy free – just simply replace the yoghurt for a dairy free one! In fact, a coconut yoghurt would make a lovely combination with the cacao. Go on, give these a go over Easter and surprise the children with a healthy treat that’s still packed with the creamy taste of chocolate.

Chocolate Yoghurt Easter Eggs

These chocolate yoghurt Easter eggs are not only healthy but they're creamy, chocolatey, free from refined sugar and can be made dairy free. They're an incredibly easy treat to whip up for the children this Easter.

Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 1 hour
Total Time 1 hour 5 minutes
Servings 12 servings

  • 1 500g Greek Yoghurt Organic
  • 2 Tbsp Cacao powder Raw + organic
  • 1 Vanilla Pod

  1. In a bowl, mix together all of your ingredient until everything is combined and lump free.

  2. Grab your two silicone egg moulds and dollop a tbsp of mixture into each Easter egg mould. Make sure each mould is level and not over flowing. Repeat this for each mould.

  3. Once done, pop your moulds in the freezer and freeze for an hour (or more if you have time).

  4. Remove them from the freezer, pop the eggs out and enjoy! My kids like to wait a little for the eggs to melt for the ultimate creamy treat. Think of it as a mini Easter egg popsicle!
