We all know just how sugary (and addictive) granola mixes can be and if you're trying to eat healthier, then reaching for a bowl of Cheerio's probably isn't the best option.

But what if I told you that you can make your own refined sugar free granola mix that's healthy and rich in nutrients?

Yup, this keto nut and seed mix is my go-to recipe when I'm craving something a little sweet, crunchy and nutty.

How to make keto sugar-free granola

Making your own granola couldn't be any easier. You'll simply need a good mix of nuts and seeds, two wet ingredients and a natural sweetener.

You'll then pop your dry ingredients into a bowl and mix together before melting your wet ingredients on the stove - gently. Once melted, you'll then pour the wet mixture over your granola mix and stir well.

After that, you'll pour your mix onto a baking tray, pop it in the oven and bake for 20 minutes before removing, tossing and popping it back in for a final 5 minutes with a slightly higher cooking temperature.

Once your granola mix is golden, you'll need to remove it from the oven to cool completely.

How to get crunchy granola

Now, this is the important bit. Once you've removed your granola from the oven, you'll need to let it cool completely. Doing so allows the mixture to crispen up. I also find tossing the mixture around helps. Once cool and crispy, you'll then need to store the mixture in an air-tight container for freshness.

The coconut oil is the main ingredient responsible for that much loved 'crunch' so try not to it out.

Crunchy Keto Nut & Seed Mix (Sugar-Free Granola)

A delicious, crunchy keto nut and seed mix. Gluten, dairy and refined sugar-free! Perfect on top of yoghurt or as a portion on its own served with fresh berries and milk.

 Course: Breakfast/snack

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 25 minutes
Total Time: 35 minutes
Servings: Roughly 15 servings

  • 40g coconut flakes
  • 140g almonds
  • 150g mixed seeds
  • 90g flaked almonds
  • 150g pecans
  • 70g agave nectar
  • 2 tbsp coconut sugar
  • 3 tbsp coconut oil
  • 4 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt

Begin by preheating your oven to 160c. In a bowl, add the nuts and seeds together and stir.

Pour the agave nectar and coconut oil into a pan over medium heat to melt together. Once melted, pour over the nut and seed mix and stir until the liquid has covered the granola mix.

Add the cinnamon and sea salt and stir once more.

Line a large baking tray with parchment paper and pour the granola mix onto the tray. Spread out evenly. Pop in the middle of the oven and bake for 20 minutes.

Remove, toss and pop back in the oven for a further 5 minutes - increasing the heat to 170c.

Once golden, remove your granola mix from the oven and leave to cool completely (see above).

Once cool and crisp, pop your keto granola mix in an air-tight container.

I like to enjoy a 50g serving with fresh berries and a little milk - try it.
