Vitamin B5, also known as pantothenic acid, plays an important role in extracting valuable nutrients from food and a critical role in maintaining the health of our nervous system. As the vitamin is found in lots of fresh foods its name is derived from Greek – ‘pantos’ meaning ‘everywhere’. However, it is easily lost during processing – especially if we only eat packaged foods!
