Saw palmetto is a plant and it’s many health benefits have been known for a long time. It’s fruit is used to make the medicine that many people, including the ancient Native Americans, to treat urinary tract problems and increase sperm production. It’s commonly known for it’s treatment of decreasing symptoms of an enlarged prostate. Although, it’s also known for the treatments of colds, coughs, sore throats and to support those who suffer with asthma, chronic bronchitis and migraines/headaches.

Nowadays, saw palmetto supplements are one of the most commonly consumed supplements by men who suffer with prostate cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia. Unfortunately, enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia, BPH) is a very common problem for older men. It’s estimated that 50% of men over the age of 50 (and nearly all men at the age of 80) suffer from an enlarged prostate to a greater or lesser extent. Therefore, it is seen wise to consider saw palmetto as part of a regular dietary supplement.
