N-acetyl cysteine comes from the amino acid L-cysteine (contains sulfur) and is known for it’s many health benefits. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins and are crucial for keeping our body in top condition. As a supplement, NAC has many uses and can help people with a diverse set of issues, including mood disorders, brain issues, lung issues, sleep disorders, chest pain and Alzheimer’s disease. It’s even known to help protect you from the flu. Those with drinking problems have also used NAC to treat liver damage from excessive use of alcohol.

As well as the benefits above, NAC is amazing for replenishing and maintaining glutathione (antioxidant that removes oxygen radicals from cells) levels in the body. This is important because these radicals can (and most probably will) cause cellular and tissue damage if left for too long in the bodies cells. Because of this, NAC can also decrease inflammation in tissues.
