Hands up if you want your skin to be in the best condition it possibly can. Thought so. The truth is, with the high levels of pollution nowadays and the temperamental weather (hot cold, hot cold), it’s hard to keep our skin healthy, plump and well nourished. Not to mention free from toxins that are found within our supermarket products.

One of the best ways to moisturise our bodies is by using an oil. Most moisturiser products from the supermarkets do contain oil, however, not enough to seep into the cracks of our skin. When you think about your skin you should almost see it as a wall. Our cells act as the bricks and the grout (in between the bricks) are our fats that help to keep water in so our skin can stay hydrated, radiant and nourished. Thanks to avocado oil being one of the richest sources of beneficial monounsaturated fatty acids, it makes it’s way through our skin quickly and efficiently which in turn helps to keep our skin extremely hydrated.

Avocado oil is produced from the avocado itself (from the tree). The oil is pressed from the flesh surrounding the pit in the middle which makes it one of the few oils that’s not produced from a seed. But how exactly is the oil of an avocado good for our skin? Actually, it’s extremely good for our skin thanks to it’s healthy fats. Avocado oil is hydrating, softening and nourishing. It’s also known to be an effective treatment for acne, blackheads, eczema, psoriasis, other inflammations of the skin and for reducing the signs of aging. Of course many people’s skin can react differently to different oils, so my suggestion would be to test a small area before going ahead with a full face mask. However, since using this avocado, raw honey and coconut face mask every week, I’ve noticed how much softer my skin has become and my pores appear noticeably clearer.

The coconut flour that’s called for in this recipe helps to create the paste. You may be more familiar with using coconut flour when it comes to baking, but it works just as well for this recipe and in fact, it’s what brings it all together – it’s much easier to apply with the coconut flour added than it is without. Plus, it’s antibacterial which can help reduce redness, blemishes and spots and overall, improve your complexion.

Avocado And Coconut Moisturising Face Mask

A nourishing and hydrating Primal friendly face mask recipe made with avocado and coconut and absolutely nothing else.

  • 1 whole avocado organic and mashed
  • 1 tbsp avocado oil organic and raw
  • 1 1/2 tbsp coconut flour organic and natural


  1. In a bowl mix together all of your ingredients until you have a thick creamy paste.

  2. Using a spoon (or a spatula), smooth the mask onto clean skin and leave for 10 minutes. Once done, remove with water and wash thoroughly (leaving no traces of face mask).
