When writing and structuring the book, I wanted to make sure that my message of seeing Primal Cure as a lifestyle change and not a diet was seen first and foremost.
Living Primally is about focusing on three different areas of our lives; diet, lifestyle and environment. Now, when I say diet, what I really mean is the food and drink choices that we make daily. When it comes to lifestyle I include sleep, sunshine, stress, purpose, family and exercise. And lastly, whilst doing all the above, I think it’s important that we do everything possible to protect our environment; avoiding toxins, chemicals and radiation.
When it comes to trying to lose our excess weight for good, if we keep doing the same thing that we have always done, then we’re going to always look the same. You can’t expect results from doing absolutely nothing. If you have tried to diet before and you find yourself simply repeating the same classic diet again, then I am sorry to tell you this, but you will quickly end up where you started. Let’s get one thing straight: There is no such thing as a quick diet fix. Primal Cure is about creating small adjustments to our lifestyle that, 1) work for us and 2) better align us to the way were designed to be. If all those typical diets (i.e, the cabbage diet, the no fat diet, the juice diet, etc..) really worked, then why are 6 out of 10 adults across the UK and USA trying to lose weight? That’s quite a lot of stop and start diets.
The single biggest mistake people make when trying to shed those extra pounds is following a diet they don’t enjoy. Therefore, they don’t view it as what it should be: A lifestyle change. Instead they end up dreading the foods they eat and saying the word ‘diet’ until they can no longer stand the word, all whilst gobbling up the entire contents of Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. Diet’s are restrictive, diet’s are boring and diet’s make people miserable – it’s not hard to see why they don’t work! Which is exactly why my approach of seeing Primal Cure a lifestyle change is so incredibly important to make it work for you.
As you work your way through the book and try different things, you’ll find that some approaches will suit you and others won’t. You need to be honest with yourself and most importantly, realistic. If you’re an intense chocaholic then cutting out chocolate 100% to start with probably won’t work and you’ll only end up gorging on all the chocolate in sight. So make smart choices and adapt your chocolate obsession to dark chocolate which is a lot more healthier – in moderation of course! You’ll have to find more out about that in the book though! Whilst I believe that the more Primal concepts you follow the more healthy you will ultimately become; even if you only adopt a few, it will be a step in the right direction to curing your body naturally. Something is better than nothing, right?
Our intention with Primal Cure is to help you understand what it is that makes us sick and fat. Even if you are not fat, living Primally help both slow down the aging process and prevent modern Westernised diseases.
